|Woven .....the threads of simple design, style and comfort:
Woven started with an invitation from Anna of Nygårds Anna to represent her and her company and to share it with the women of the UK.
Annas' own personal journey began when she started to make her own clothes from a very early age, her inspirations were all around her.
Growing up in a beautiful part of Sweden and inspired by two grandmothers, she only had to look beyond her window for her creativity to ignite and the need to make something so special & so simple it would become her life's work. clothes for women. clothes which are drawn from history and days gone by... clothes for everyday and clothes for now.
The connection I suppose is i gigi a small boutique in the south of England, that had already been buying this stylish Swedish brand for nearly a decade and I suppose it’s where the next step of the journey begins...
i gigi opened its doors in 1997 selling unique and stylish women's clothes, labels that had not before been seen outside of London.
The bold move from Devon, allowed this mother and daughter to lead the way for contemporary fashion outside the major cities and set themselves apart from the high street stores of Brighton.
Hazel (mum) and Zoe (daughter) Ellison, moved to Hove for a change of pace after living in Devon for most of Zoe's life.
It was time to bring Zoe’s energy and abundant creativity to the heart of Hove, an uncertain but extremely successful move.
Times where changing and people had the means and confidence to play with fashion in a more unique and individual way, giving each woman that came to the shop a sense of her own style with quality clothes that would stand the test of time.
This was the place where three very strong women of different backgrounds, each with different strengths, came together to form what is now the i gigi Boutique and i gig General Store, Cafe and Menswear.
The original i gigi was joined by Alex Legendre, after only being open a few months, and she instantly became part of the family.
When fate introduced them to Alby Thompson, the then manager of Jigsaw, the trio was complete. Alby started working for the small family business in 2001 and from that moment the team were unstoppable.
Now with teaching, merchandising and buying all under their belts, this team could go forward to offer their services to others. With a combined knowledge of fashion and over a decades experience as retailers and buyers, it seemed perfect to start the agency 'Woven'.
